Malin Akerman is contented and well rested following 12 hours of uninterrupted sleep, the first such slumber she’s had in a long time. “My body basically told me to ‘F’ off,� she says, which is no surprise given the month that she’s had. Akerman—a ravishing, ebullient blonde of Swedish descent—plays the Spandexed superheroine Silk Spectre II in Zack Snyder’s Watchmen, and the frenzy leading up to opening weekend was beyond hectic, shuttling her around the world and morphing her from rising star to supernova. “It’s been so crazy but so exciting,� she says. “It’s worth the lack of sleep.�

Akerman is certainly on a fast track in Hollywood, having first made a splash on HBO’s The Comeback opposite Lisa Kudrow, followed by a sexy cameo on Entourage (yes, the threesome), Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, The Brothers Solomon, The Heartbreak Kid, and 27 Dresses. An adept and fearless comedian, she’ll next be seen with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds in The Proposal, followed by the ensemble comedy Couples Retreat in the fall. At this moment, however, it’s less about laughs and more about ass-kicking, as America embraces its inner fanboy during Watchmen mania.
